LAUTIGAR WINS FIRST CAREER MODIFIED MAIN
Andrews Sweeps Street Stocks for Second Win
ByJerry O'Brien

Jayme Lautigar of Superior took advantage of a late race caution flag to wrest the lead form Dann Olson and held on to take the popular win. Ryan Aho won his second consecutive Super Stock feature and his 11th overall win this season. Marshall Andrews took the lead in the late going and used a last lap caution flag to take the lead from Trevor Wilson and held him off to the checkered flag for his second Street Stock feature win of the season at the Speedway.

Bill Byholm of Glidden, WI grabbed the lead early on in the 20 lap WISSOTA Late Model feature from pole sitter Mike Nutzmann and survived two caution flags to take his first feature win of the season in the division.

In the early going Byholm was long gone leaving Nutzmann to battle with Andy Simonsen and Darrell Nelson for second. The huge lead Byholm enjoyed evaporated when Randy Hoff was turned around off turn four and came to rest against the inside wall. At the green flag with a double file restart, Byholm had the measure of the field as Pat Doar got a good jump and took third. The order with six laps in was Byholm, Simonsen, Doar, Nelson and Nutzmann. Byholm again extended his lead but once again the final caution flag appeared when Bob Broking spun and backed into the second turn wall. The event went the rest of the way without any more stoppages and Byholm moved out to a ten car length lead which he held to the checkered flag. Doar won the battle for the runner up spot over Nelson, Justin Fegers, and Bob Reed.

At the initial green flag in the Modified feature, Darrell Carlson got the hole shot and moved from the inside of the second row to the lead over outside pole sitter Dann Olson with Bill Byholm, Dennis Checkalski and Jayme Lautigar close behind. Checkalski dropped out with apparent mechanical problems and Steve Arpin moved up from the third row to fourth. The first caution flag slowed the action when newcomer Jamie Davis spun in turn four. At the green flag Olson grabbed the lead over Carlson with Lautigar third. The leaders each found a groove and battled three wide for the point. With four circuits run Olson led Carlson, Lautigar, Arpin and pole sitter Bill Byholm. Olson's high groove worked better and he took a big lead as Carlson began to fade. Lautigar was second, Arpin third while 11th starting Cory Jorgenson got by Carlson for fourth. Carlson continued his slide back as the caution flag appeared with five laps remaining for an Erik Bjorkland spin in turn two after contact with another car. Olson retained the lead and now it was the wily veteran being chased by the two young guns Lautigar and Arpin. Olson looked ready to annex his first win at the speedway since early 2003 but the caution came out on the white flag lap when Carlson and Kelly Estey made contact in turn four with Carlson tagged with the foul. The slowdown set up a two lap shootout which Lautigar won for his first career feature win in his third season in the division. Olson, Arpin, Al Uotinen from the 13th starting spot and Estey rounded out the top five.

Ryan Aho started the 15 lap Super Stock feature from the inside of the third row and won his second feature at the Speedwayand 11th over all on the season. Joe Oliver drew the outside of the front row and took the early lead but things started to go sour immediately as the first of six caution flags flew immediately for debris in turn three. The racing was fast and furious from the beginning with Dale Gangl, pole sitter Jeff Lindsey, Scott Lawrence and John Copp battling high, low and in the middle for second behind Oliver. Aho annexed the lead, and with six laps to go the competition was fierce up front until Lawrenceslipped in turn four collecting Oliver, Copp and Randy Silverness. Lawrencewas sent to the rear and Copp was done for the night. With four laps remaining Aho led Gangl, Keith Kern up from 9th Lindsey, Al Uotinen up from 17th and Kyle Peterlin. Aho held on for the win over Gangl, Uotinen, Kern and Peterlin.

Marshall Andrews survived a two lap shootout over Trevor Wilson to win his second Street Stock feature of the year at the speedway and fourth career checkered flag. At the green pole sitter Butch Madsen took the lead followed by Tom O'Brien, Wilson and Tim Baum. O'Brien held the lead to the first caution flag when George Korich had heavy contact with the fourth turn wall. O'Brien led Wilson and Madsen but Wilsongot by to the lead. The final caution flag was again in the final circuit when Keith Tourville and Don Velleux had contact in the first turn. Andrews had worked his way into second and grabbed the lead on the final lap to take the win over Wilson, O'Brien, Madsen and Baum.
